Lisa Abellera earned her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco and her BA in Strategic Management from Dominican University of CA. She is currently working on a collection of short fiction. Her stories often explore the afterlife of change or trauma. Her characters grapple with loss/grief, self-delusion, and issues with identity – of defining and redefining self – sometimes within the context of the immigrant or ethnic experience, where themes of acculturation, duality, discrimination, and alienation between parents and children arise.
In addition to being a writer, Lisa is the Creative Director of Reputation Books, the publishing imprint of Kimberley Cameron & Associates, where she is a literary agent. While she is not taking unsolicited submissions at this time, she accepts submissions pitched at writers conferences and during Twitter pitch parties (#adpit, #kidpit, #pitmad, #sffpit, #writepit) which occur throughout the year.
As a freelance designer, Lisa specializes in publishing design, with expertise in book cover design and manuscript layout and conversion for print and ebook publication, and creating websites for authors and publishers. Other design services include creating marketing and business materials such as brochures, press releases, business cards and stationary, as well as graphic elements and assets, high quality visuals, multi-page layouts and packaging mechanicals.
